Brian Campbell, an 11-year old student in the Tempe, Arizona, is suing the local school district and manufacturers of a computer game, "Freedom!" The game, required classwork, calls for players to act out the lives of runaway slaves in pre-Civil War America.
Characters are referred to as "boy" as they attempt to complete the game's objective -- escape to the North.
In this complaint, the Campbell family alleges that the school failed to provide equal protection and intentionally inflicted emotional distress.
